Such systems can exhibit highly desirable characteristics of resilient self-organisation, self-regulation, self-healing, and adaptation over multiple spatial and temporal scales, and can also be used for complex optimisation and automated-design tasks. CAS aims to grow world-class expertise for HP in the theory and practice of artificial systems that exhibit these desirable characteristics. This paper is an overview of CAS research projects relevant to self-configuring, self-organizing, self-managing and selfrepairing IT systems.
